The Malachite Kingfisher..

While in Sri Lanka, we went on a boat safari. It was beautiful. We didn't see too much but it sure was scenic. This is a Malachite Kingfisher, endemic to the area. Loved the colors. You will notice a slight shake as it was dark and I had to use a low shutter speed of about an 80th of a second. I'm regretting the slow shutter now, since I could have increased the brightness in post, which would have allowed me to use a higher shutter speed then, but I didn't really think of it at that time. Well, at least I won't make the same mistake the next time.

From my roof..

I haven't shown you guys any of the pictures I took in Sri Lanka yet, and I promise I will soon. I have my mid-terms going on and till everything is over, its gonna be very hard to get a hold of the drive with all the pictures from Sri Lanka. So, here's one I got recently from the roof.

What I tried to do this picture, mainly, was to make it so that the motion of the clouds could clearly be seen, and I have to say, I'm pretty happy. So I gave it an exposure of 300 seconds (5 minutes) and the light in the middle of the frame was thanks to a light in that distant area! So here it is. :)

With a 5 minute exposure, its pretty surprising but we can even see a few star trails if we look closely. I've always wanted to do a good shot of star trails. Probably one day, soon. :)

Celebrating a 100 posts with a captivating Sri Lankan sunset..

Hi all,

I have so much to say to so many of you. But I'm gonna try to keep this short.

I would like to start by saying - Thank you for being here right now, and if you like what you see, bookmark this page right now and visit it every week and I promise I'll try my best not to disappoint you. I think you can also enter your email ID at the bottom to receive an update through email every time I post. But if that doesn't work, just 'favorite' it, or bookmark it. :) And don't forget to tell everyone in your circles about it.

This blog, over the last year, has become very close to me. My mother has always called me inconsistent. This blog is something I'm proud of, especially because it has lasted over a year. And hopefully, it lasts for years to come.

So, since it has been this long, I decided I had to do something I haven't done before. I made myself a logo. I'm tired of watermarking my pictures with text every time I post, so I designed a logo so it would be easier. Here it is. Hope you like it. :)

I know I'm two days late but a Happy photo day to all of you! I wanted to post on the 19th but I wasn't ready with the logo, so I decided to post today instead.

I got a lot of my friends to send out messages to a lot of people in their contact lists for this 100th post. Thanks so much guys! I owe you big time. :)

I'm so grateful to my family and friends. They got me started and have been there all along. I really appreciate their love and support, and I won't forget what they've done for me.

A little about the trip to Sri Lanka. We were there for just 3 nights. But, I have to say, those 3 nights were unbelievably eventful. From the hotel we stayed in, to the places we visited, I absolutely loved Sri Lanka. This picture was taken right after sunset. I had it on a long exposure of 10 seconds and it turned out perfect. The hues in the sky that evening were beautiful. I hope you guys like it.

Once again, thanks so much for being here. Please do scroll down, and if you like it, bookmark it, favourite it, do whatever you have to do to keep coming back. Cuz you know I really need you guys. :)

If you like my work, do spread the word to your friends and family. And if anyone needs any product photography or any other kind of photography done, feel free to put them in touch with me.

My email ID is sudsphotography@gmail.com.

In case you want to get in touch with me, you can use the same email ID. Don't hesitate to leave comments below any picture you like. :)

Again, thanks a lot for visiting. :)

Back from Sri Lanka!

Got back yesterday evening from a wonderful trip to Sri Lanka! It was just three days, but it was the most definitely the most eventful and fun trip I could have asked for.

First and foremost, the hotel we stayed at, Jetwing Lagoon, at Negombo (a half an hour drive from Colombo), was one of the best resorts I've ever stayed at. Very very well-maintained, a beautiful swimming pool, super spacious rooms, amazing food - this is just the start! I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone who is planning to visit Sri Lanka. It's just a half an hour drive from Colombo airport and is definitely worth the money you pay for it. It is also located just opposite the beach and I walked there every morning. Nothing like waking up to the sound of the Indian ocean and the mist touching your face.

Here's a picture I got at that very beach. A very simple 10 second exposure to give the water a smooth touch, with a neutral density filter, to compensate for the light. Hope you like it.

We did only a few sightseeing trips. One within Negombo, a boat safari and one to Colombo. The guide we used for Colombo was a really great tour guide and if anyone is visiting in the near future, email me and I can send you his contact details.

This is my 99th post. The next one will be my big 100th post and I hope to have a lot of people visiting my page as I am going to have a lot of friends helping me with telling other people to visit. Hope all of you do the same. I'm really excited!

I'll be posting a lot of pictures from the Sri Lanka trip over the next month or so, so keep checking! ;)

Love is in the air.. ;)

A three day vacation is exactly what I need! We're off to Sri Lanka for the next three days and I'm really looking forward to it! So no posts for the next few days and I'll show you guys pictures as soon as I'm back. :)

This love is for you guys, who have been here to support me all the way. I am going to be reaching my 100th post soon and have something small, but special, planned. :) So please do invite your friends and family to visit.

Thanks you all for the love.

Another one of those product shots..

So, here's another picture I took at the same time I took the previous one of the ring. It's the same ring and I managed to make it stand using some clay-like stuff. Later I did a tiny bit of editing and removed the parts of it to make it look like it was standing on its own. :)

A creative shot..

So, I tried this creative shot! I've seen a lot of product shots with this thing called 'bokeh balls' in the background done with simple fairy lights and a wide aperture. So, I tried it with this picture (an IKEA timer) and I took it in monochrome, mostly because I didn't like the colors at all. Tell me if you guys like it! Drop a comment below. :)

I always felt the perfect caption for this image would be - 'Time is of the essence.'

A teddy bear..

Another trial studio shot of a teddy bear that has been at home for ages! :)

Product shot..

So, I was trying to gather a few product shots for something like a portfolio so that clients can take a look before they give me a project and I got this picture of my mother's ring. Hope you guys like it.

The Rajasthani restaurant..

We had a few friends over this weekend and we decided to show them something different. So, we went to 'Chokhi Dhani', a representation of a tiny Rajasthani village. At dinner, we also had live music! This is a picture of the singer. As you can see, he sang with great dedication and was pretty good!

Ants - Fresh off my camera!

This is probably one of the first times I'm posting a picture that I just took. I found this leaf full of ants in my garden. So, here it is. :)

Watches..

I know, I know. It's been more than a month. And this time, it's completely my fault. So, now, I promise to increase the frequency of my posts.

This is my grandfather's new Titan watch. It's a beauty and I had to shoot it! Here it is.

'Unlike diamonds, watches were practical. They were for people on the run, people with appointments to keep and schedules to meet.' - Jeannette Walls

Sunset in the drive to Yercaud..

The drive to Yercaud was really enjoyable and the sunset that evening was exquisite! It's a pity that I slept through most of the sunset. Here's what I got though. I got it with these palms which made it look very tropical to me.
